The Phindi necklace is named after a beautiful South African woman. Last summer Diana Warner worked with Phindi to develop these boxes to be the right size for jewelry. She enjoyed her time with her so much, and loved hearing her story from Alison (Ali runs the project we teamed up with to provide Phindi with a job) that she decided these boxes were so special that she needed to make a necklace especially for the box. Each box is different and requires eight images to make. Each box is made from magazines left on the shelf each month that do not sell. Magazines are then donated to Kunye, this way magazines are not thrown away but recycled and made into something beautiful. The necklace she created to go inside each box is also unique, every necklace is different in it's own way and is made of a recycled stone, reconstituted turquoise. The turquoise is wrapped with 14kt plated sterling silver and then hung on a 16 inch necklace. This necklace inside this beautiful box makes a lovely gift for yourself or someone you love. Each box comes with Phindi's story and each box is unique. Boxes help support the job development efforts Diana Warner supports in the townships of South Africa.
